Our featured designer from last week KevHolt just put some more artwork up into the catalog. I really like is colorful, abstract paintings. So here are the additions for everyone to check out. My favourite I put in first place of this collection. What are your thoughts? Which one is your favorite? Any of them makes for a great piece of wall art or even a full sheet of wall paper… Check out the full collection here in the catalog.

LTLprints.com - Giveaway Fun

Category: General, Good Timesschoenrock @ 9:19 pm Comments (11)

We’re excited to have loyal customers who love our products.  Over and over again our team hears how amazing our prints are and are impressed with the ease of installation and durability of the prints.

After discussing it in the office, we came to the conclusion that more people should be able to see and feel our prints.  Here’s the deal.  At the end of the week we’re giving away a large print.  It can be for a person or an organization or anything, really. It could be for a good cause or no cause; we just want the ideas on where it goes to come from you.

Leave us a comment and tell us who should recieve a LTLprint. Friday, January 30th we’ll post the winner and their story.

We’re open to influence as well.  Leave a comment if you feel one submission is better than the rest.

Sincerely,

Kendall Schoenrock & Carsten Petzold
co-founders, LTLprints.com

Stop talking. Start moving.

Category: Startupschoenrock @ 10:03 am Comments (10)

A few weeks ago I was at a meetup in Philadelphia when a young guy pitched me on a startup idea he had.  And I guess that makes sense.  People hear about Carsten and I starting LTLprints.com and see that as a opener to pitch me their  ideas. On the whole this pleases me and I’m grateful for the conversation.  Most are truly interested in my response, other times they just want me to tell them that their idea is worth pursuing.  Occasionally I get the sense that they want me to drop everything I’m working on and start working solely on their idea because it’s just that awesome!  In nearly all cases, my response is never far off from the following:

Stop just talking and thinking about your idea and start moving towards making your idea a reality. Take the first step - even if it’s in the wrong direction you’re moving and moving is better than standing still.

After delivering the following advice, normally with some sugar, I help the person to make the next step actionable.  I’m not telling the people they shouldn’t share their ideas, but rather I think people wait way too long in the planning stage before taking the first step. Do your homework, plan, but make it actionable and put yourself on a timeline. How do you get from the idea on the whiteboard to a nascent startup?  The same way you run a marathon, one step at a time.

What do you think?  What tips might you have for breaking out of the planning stage and getting started?

Oh, and if you’re feeling stuck with your idea perhaps an hour or so with Philly’s own Alex Hillman from unstick.me is just what the doctor ordered.

Featured Artist: Kev Holt

Welcome to the community Kev Holt!

A couple of weeks ago by chance I ran into a very nice guy named Kevin von Holt. At first we chatted about Germany – since Kev’s last name reveals his German (and aristocratic) ancestry. Well, my old prejudice of German aristocrats being very stiff and boring had to be thrown over board right away. Kevin is actually a great creative mind being everything else but stiff. When the music fever grabs him he writes his own songs. Over the years Kev wrote texts and music for more than hundred songs. But just writing songs is certainly not enough. Kev actually brings his own songs to life with his band ‘The Hotspots’. I went to the North Star the other day and saw them performing live. Kevin rocked the house being the lead singer, Scott on the drums gave an awesome performance and Launi playing base was rock solid. (Awesome job guys!). Get a sound bite here and check the band’s profile. I told Kev that many of his photos rocking the house would make for awesome cutouts and Larger Than Life Prints.

So we started talking about LTLprints some more and as it turns out Kev’s second creative passion is painting. We figured out a way to digitize his hand painted wall structures and abstract paintings. Now you can get exclusive art from Kev as a self-adhesive re-print from LTLprints. At $75 a very affordable option for exclusive wall decoration! Thanks Kev for being part of the LTLprints community - and again Welcome! The whole team is looking forward to put more of your awesome art into our catalog!
